If you are purchasing a one-inch leather d-ring collar, for example, you need to measure the collar from the middle of the buckle to the second adjustment hole. By doing it this way, you can add an additional inch or take away two inches from the measurement. With this type of collar, whatever you measured your dog's neck collar to be is the size the collar should be.
